8th grade Physical Education Class Overview
*Student Requirements:
They are required to bring a Big Spring P.E. uniform (T-shirt, shorts, sweat pants) and sneakers for class. Their grade consists of points from 3 different areas: participation/dress, written quizzes and skill evaluations. Our main focus is to provide an atmosphere where all students can succeed and have fun while learning healthy lifelong habits, various types of physical activities and good sportsmanship qualities.
Goal for Course: To reinforce that "Physical Activity" is critical to the development of good health by balancing activity and academics.
Course Description: Physical Education in 8th grade focuses on the team activities by creating a "Teamwork " approach. Everyone must be involved. Students with more experience in an area must find a way to involve everyone in the activity. The skills of listening, encouraging, receiving praise, and speaking clearly are integral parts of their team building efforts.
Activities: Flag Football, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Basketball, Tchoukball, Badminton, Track and Field, Adventure Activities, and the President's Physical Fitness Challenge. New activities are implemented when available.
